As we wrap up Digital DNA’s 2015 parcel of events and begin to tie that shiny red bow on a pretty fun year, we would like to thank you all for your incredible support. Just in time for Christmas, before you merge yourself in holiday festivities and crack open the champers, celebrate with us on our most recent announcement (diaries at the ready people) …
We have finally confirmed that our Digital DNA Conference will be taking place in St. Georges Market, Wednesday 22nd June 2016.
Here are a few ‘Digital DNA’ 2015 figures you might not have seen yet …
We have honestly been blown away by the feedback and we thank you all for your super kind words. With over 4,000 people involved at our conferences; we had 3,000 young people at our Digital Futures Programme, over 1,000 delegates and guests at our conferences and After Parties. We didn’t expect such a result, thank you!
Kicking things off in June 2015 was The Digital Futures programme, in over 6 weeks and 12 roadshows, with the help and support of 21 business and organisations, we engaged with 3,000 young people across Northern Ireland. 2 innovative teams were then chosen to travel 5,030 miles to San Francisco and the other 470.3 miles to London to visit the technological giants at Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Evernote, Slack and Stanford University – We wouldn’t have minded this when we were at school.
19 weeks later, Digital DNA had over 1000 delegates, 16 workshops, 12 countries represented and 75 global speakers travel to Belfast from Hong Kong, New Zealand, Hawaii, Canada, Malta, Germany and the United States. Then we had those a little closer to home join us from, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, Derry~Londonderry, Portrush and Sion Mills. It was true, Digital DNA headed up a global collaboration that took place right here in Northern Ireland at the spectacular Titanic Belfast.
That morning, with over 500 ‘Boomwhackers’ in hand we lifted the roof of Titanic Belfast in a show of collaboration, showing what can happen when we work together; a key focus of Digital DNA. A bit of thanks to Sam who at 9.15am we had dancing on the Titanic Belfast stage! (not sure what was in the coffee).

We went through over 800 scones and pastries, approximately 2,500 cups of coffee (we couldn’t believe this either), over 1,000 bottles of beer and cider (thanks to Tennents NI), 40 bottles of wine, 250 orders of pulled pork baps, burgers, chill squid and fish and chips and a few litres of petrol to ‘try’ to heat our After Party venue. All taking place in 6 shipping containers, one large tarpaulin, four sets of seating from the Games of Thrones set, one mad comedian, one very good guitarist, a pretty cool DJ and a pretty tipsy@DigitalDNAHQ team.
Together we achieved 4.4 million timeline deliveries on Twitter and #DigitalDNA trended No. 1 in Northern Ireland, creeping above and creating more noise than that fella #StephenNolan (That’s a first).
We also witnessed first-hand our super host for our Tourism Conference ‘Jim Eastwood‘ – his legendary articulation and persuasive abilities (Jedi powers some might say) helped our delegates get the best out of the day. A true gentleman and a great ambassador for NI.
Overall and most importantly, according to our post event feedback 98.8% of delegates left our events having gained the skills, knowledge or contacts that will tangibly help them grow their business. That’s not bad is it? We will make up that 1.2% next year – promise!
It’s rest assured that 2015 was truly an amazing and unforgettable Digital DNA experience. It was a whirlwind that wouldn’t have been such a success without all those that helped make it happen but in particular we wanted to thank the unsung heroes of the day that ‘tried’ to keep the delegates on the straight and narrow. Thank you to our volunteers for all your hard work. So to you, we say thank you!
There is no rest for the wicked
We have accepted the challenge to impress you all over again in 2016 and with planning already well under way we promise you that it will be the biggest and best yet, watch this space.
For now, the team @DigitalDNAHQ would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
