From the fifth richest football club in the world to selling your company for £70million, we at Digital DNA are bringing the world’s best speakers to Belfast on the 8th June 2016. Here are the first two, to whet your appetite…
Colm Lyon – Founder – Fire Financial Services
Colm Lyon is the CEO and Founder of Fire Financial Services. He was the founder and CEO of Realex Payments and oversaw its acquisition in March 2015 for €115m by Global Payments. Colm remains with the business as a non-executive director.
He used to head Ulster Bank’s IT division, giving him something of a bird’s-eye view of where the sector was headed.
He had been ploughing away at the e-payments game for more than 15 years when he sold his online payments business Realex to US giant Global Payments.
Colm the Director & Chairman of Fintech and Payments Association of Ireland spoke about the sale, “I know it might sound bizarre, but it was never about the money. This is a labour of love which I set up years ago because I didn’t want to work for someone else,”.

Nicola McCarthy – Senior Broadcast Journalist for Manchester City Football Club
Nicola McCarthy is Senior Broadcast Journalist at Manchester CityTV. Her role involves presenting and reporting on all things Manchester City, with special responsibility for first team coverage. Nicola joined the club as a broadcast journalist in May 2012 when City won their first Premier League title. Since then, she has travelled with the first team, both at home, in Europe and beyond, following their movements both on and off the pitch. Nicola’s role also entails production, script writing and creating content for a wide range of social media platforms.
Nicola is a graduate of Queen’s University, Belfast and the University of Ulster, Coleraine. Before making the move to Manchester, she spent time at UTV, GMTV NI, Cool FM and Citybeat Radio. She is a massive football fan (luckily!), a wife and mummy of one! Nicola comes to St. Georges Market having worked with some of the most talented and indeed wealthiest people in the world. But how does someone from Belfast get to work on such an exceptional stage communicated a huge brand to millions around the globe?
With an insight into the glitz and glamour of the footballing world Nicola will also give delegates a feel for the business side of Manchester City FC and how they grow their global brand image.
