Digital health platform, Changing Health, has expanded its technology and leadership team with the appointment of Jacob Sunol as CTO and technical leader.
Sunol will be fundamental in focussing on the behavioural, organisational and technical challenges that will enable people to prevent, reverse or survive some of the world’s most chronic conditions including diabetes, heart disease and mental health.
Changing Health, which has its HQ in Newcastle and an office in Barcelona, is a pioneer in the digital health sector using technology to allow people to access the right digital health care at the right time.
Sunol brings a wealth of experience to further Changing Health’s goal of delivering high quality digital health programmes, which are driven by machine learning and are accessible to everyone.
Following previous roles at global health heavyweights including Roche and Ipsen where he delivered artificial intelligence products and led a team working across digital biomarkers, patient engagement / support platforms and numerous R&D innovations. Sunol brings a skillset focused on web and mobile technologies, AI and algorithms.
Sunol, who has a passion for technology that delivers tangible benefits to people, previously founded his own digital health business where he was responsible for product and technology.
On joining Changing Health as CTO, Sunol said: “I started a similar business 10 years ago but that was too early. Now is the right time to start working again in this area with Changing Health and I could not be more excited. I believe we have the team, a terrific product vision and the momentum to really make a difference in the marketplace.”
Mike Trenell, CEO of Changing Health, said: “To have a colleague with Jacob’s experience joining our leadership team speaks volumes of where Changing Health is going.
“Jacob’s knowledge of technology and its strategic use are unparalleled and position us strongly to deliver our vision of machine learning enabled personalised behaviour change, at scale.”
Sunol is the fourth key hire at Changing Health, which has recently recruited Ashley Duque Kienzle, formerly of Amazon and Facebook, as chief product officer, Tony Wallace as chief commercial officer and serial entrepreneur Nick Imrie as chief of staff.
Changing Health is a digital health intervention platform which creates bespoke programmes and technology to change health behaviour at scale.
